I am sure you have been maintaining your air filter and changing your oil and maybe even lubing your chain every once and a while. But I have a feeling that there is some neglect going on. We all know that the linkage, swing arm and steering bearings need to be serviced but most of us don't do it as often as we should. Highland Cycles recommends doing it at least once a season or more if you ride in wet conditions or wash your bike a lot.

You need to service your chassis bearings because if you don't they will eventually end up looking like this
Rusty bearings aren't only unsightly but also cause your suspension to work like poo. So its a safety issue as well as an embarrassment.
Taking apart, cleaning and re-greasing all of these bearings isn't rocket surgery but it is a mess and requires a stand, some room and probably some adult beverages.
